Knowing the Kate Spade girl is all about pops of colors and lots of quirk, I wore my hot pink J Brand jeans, my new turquoise and black cap-toe Lanvin flats, a super comfy grey vkoo sweater, and of course my bright pink Kate Spade Melinda Tote.

All of the designs are a variation on the same theme – a small, ladylike satchel with an oversized frame that made its debut on the Spring 2012 runway. The materials vary from printed wovens to studded crocodile and the prices go from $1495 on up, but I’m not sure that there’s a single bag in this group on which I’d spend the money, not even for something one-of-a-kind from one of my all-time favorite designers. Not only that, but each Chanel collection is divided into two smaller groups – the regular stuff and the Outstanding Pieces, which are either exotics or some sort of incredibly special embellishment like hand embroidery or strassing. I’ve included both groups in the photos after the jump, mostly because I’m greedy and I like all of my Chanel goodness at once.

Sadly, that’ll have to wait until at least after Fashion Week, but right now, I’m mentally packing the Kate Spade Japanese Floral Medium Suitcase as my carry-on and jetsetting to, I don’t know, Bali? Bali sounds about right, I think. It’s my imagination, I can go wherever I want.

When I first looked at this suitcase, I thought, “Well, it’s very cute, but who would actually use a hand-carried suitcase anymore for real travel?” I took a close look at the dimensions and got out my measuring tape, though, and then I realized that the case isn’t all that much bigger than my large Proenza Schouler PS1. It would be big enough to fit a 15″ laptop and everything that you want to take on a plane for entertainment during the flight, or perhaps big enough for a short weekend car trip, but not so big that it would be uncomfortable to carry without wheels to aid in the process.

This bag is a luxury item for sure, in that it’s for a particular type of traveler that’s far more interested in style than comfort. Those women do exist, as evidenced by the number of people I see trekking through the airport in sky-high heels, but for anyone else this bag probably seems like a slightly silly purchase. On my imaginary vacation, though, the pretty print and classic shape make perfect sense. Buy through Kate Spade for $828.

Spring Festival is big day for China,as it is Chinese New Year and welcome to the Year of the Dragon, everyone! Since our cultural knowledge of the traditions of Chinese New Year is admittedly somewhat limited, we thought that the best way we could join in on the festivities would be by highlighting the work of one very talented Chinese American designer – Alexander Wang. After all, what better way to celebrate a culture than by appreciating the contributions of its people?

Wang’s bags are likely familiar to most of you already, but he’s done something a little different for Resort and Spring 2012 – he used color. The man known for black and grey did an admirable job of brightening things up and even incorporating a print or two for the new season, and today seemed like a perfect day to feature several of our favorites. With this lineup, there’s a little something for everyone. Exotics, stitched details, brights-and-neutrals colorblocking, mirrored patent leather. The Antigona takes well to all of them because of its immaculate, well-edited structure; there’s never a metaphorical hair out of place on this bag. Each aspect of this bag shows that there was great attention to detail and the bag holds up extremely well.

I searched PurseBlog and realized we only have a handful of posts on (most likely) my favorite color: cobalt blue. Blue has always been my color, but there is something about a bright shocking blue that is not overly aggressive but still lures me in so strongly. Celine did this wonderfully and I count myself as one of the few and one of the lucky to own a Celine Cobalt Blue Luggage Tote.

On the other hand, I’m in a love-hate relationship with Christian Louboutin bags, but the Bikini Pouch immediately caught my attention. The royal blue stands out beautifully against the watersnake zip top pouch which is offset by a silver-tone chain link strap. The interior of course features a red grosgrain lining with a slip pocket. Amanda was all about the red paired with the skull clasp from a designer that she adores. Now I feel like one-upping her, because really, could the Alexander McQueen Skull Diamante Clutch be anymore amazing?
It is pretty simply for me to sum up why this clutch rocks. Number 1: it is Alexander McQueen, who is a design mastermind. Number 2: it is a perfect structured clutch shape. Number 3: The black crystals are a subdued cool attention-grabber. Number 4: The skull clasp is seriously awesome. Number 5: The inside lining is a chic pink nappa leather.
